Peer Support Specialist - On Call
Anka is seeking a reliable and experienced PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST/ Mental Health Worker to join our team in the city of Indio!
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Rancho Desert is a Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) Program for individuals experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis. Unlike programs that are held in a psychiatric unit or hospital-like facility, Rancho Desert is held in a natural home setting in order to better engage the individual in the recovery process. Our clients participate in a highly structured recovery program and work with a team of specialists who help them resolve the behavioral or emotional issues associated with their crisis and give them the tools necessary to help them work through future challenges and re-integrate back into the community.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Peer Support Specialist will be a key player in guiding our clients in the process of peer recovery and intervention at Anka’s This program is a 15 beds mental health rehabilitation center for psychiatric acute adults who require 24-hour supervision.
ON-CALL position always open for NOC SHIFT from 7:00pm to 7:30am and DAY SHIFT from 7:00am to 7:30pm
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES. Under the supervision of the Program Administrator, the Peer Support Specialist will:
Provide support as needed for substance abuse and mental health emergencies
Develop innovative approaches to encourage client participation and integration
Be involved in the conferences and meetings regarding client and staff matters.
Develop Recovery Plans along with regular one-on-one interactions on a weekly basis
• A strong interest in the mental health industry and helping people
• Bi-cultural/bi-lingual experience preferred but not required
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. B.A. Degree or M.A. Degree in psychology, social welfare or counseling is preferred. Certificate of Completion of Riverside County PEER EMPLOYMENT TRAINING required.
Experience: At least one (1) year (2 years preferred) PAID experience in mental health work. Bi-cultural/bi-lingual experience is an asset.
Other Requirements: Valid California Driver’s License in good standing with proof of current auto insurance. Ability to pass pre-employment background check, Med/TB and obtain FBI/DOJ FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE.
